Soak testing is a measurement that evaluates the performance of an application’s ability to handle user growth and increasingly demanding tasks over time. Basically, soak testing is a stress test in a sense. This measurement tells developers how a product or service will fair months and even years after creation with varying degrees of heavy use. It’s never completely possible to know how a product will withstand the test of time, but soak testing allows developers to uncover issues right away.
