Claude skill for learning Metabase
Let Claude help you learn how to use Metabase.

We’ve built a Claude skill that walks you through the key concepts of using Metabase. Through ten sessions, you will learn about all the ins and outs of the product. Claude will quiz you about what you’ve learned and track your progress. You can come back later and pick up where you left off. It can also use your own data to create examples that are relevant to you.
It is also available in our Skills repository.
Requirements and setup
In order for the skill to remember your progress, it needs to be run in Claude Cowork. You can use Claude AI (chat) as well, but you’ll have to keep the session running if you want Claude to remember your progress.
- Install the skill in Claude.
- In the Claude app, find the Customize section.
- Click on Skills in the top left, then click the + button and select Create Skill > Upload a skill.
- Upload the skill file.
- Switch to Claude Cowork
- Open or create a folder that you are comfortable giving Claude permission to access to. The skill will only store a tiny file recording your progress in a
.claudesubfolder. - Ask Claude to
Teach me Metabaseor similar, and it will walk you through the rest of the process.
In addition, if you have the Metabase MCP server connected, the skill will draw from your data when coming up with examples. It has a fall-back data schema, but using your own data is preferable if possible.
No data about your sessions or learning is sent to Metabase. When Claude asks you how hard a session was, etc., that is purely for its own uses to adapt the material to your level of knowledge.
Give the skill a try and let us know what you think (on our Discourse server, X, or LinkedIn)!
