Data apps overview
Data apps are custom apps that you build on your Metabase data with an AI coding agent. Like dashboards, data apps show your data from your semantic layer. But an app can have any layout and its own pages, and people can add, edit, and delete data from the app. A data app runs with the permissions of the person who opens it, so people see only the data that they’re allowed to see.
Build a data app
What you need to build an app, how an AI coding agent builds and changes it with the Metabase CLI, where to keep the app’s source code, and how to ship the app to production with Remote Sync.
Manage data apps
See what each app reads and writes, make apps live or drafts, choose which groups can open them, and see how people open them.
Data app analytics
See the questions and actions that your apps run, who runs them, and what fails.
